In 2024, we celebrate the anniversaries of artists with a remarkable contribution to Bulgarian art – Atanas Popov (1894-1980), Hristo Kavarnaliev (1894-1951), Georgi Baev (1924-2007), Nikola M. Daskalov (1924-2001). Their works are stored in the gallery’s fund. The unifying theme in the selection of works for the present exhibition is the sea. The artists belong to different generations, born from the end of the 19th century to the 1920s, and in a certain period of their work they are connected with the sea element and develop the theme, refracting it through the prism of their own artistic searches. Each of them leaves a mark in the big picture of the newly emerging marine tradition in young Bulgarian art after the Liberation.
