Hall 9
The artworks presented in these halls include the period of 1980s -1990s. The fund is collected mainly through purchases and donations from the “The Earth and the people” Common Art Exhibitions 1982 and 1987, and presents some of the emblematic artists of the period. They bear new thirst for liberation of the artistic expression, for spontaneous reaction, for a modern lean on sensitivity. This art generation is widely represented in the collection.

The famous avant-garde painters of the 1980s Dimitar Kirov, Genko Genkov, Ivan Kirkov, Georgi Baev, Encho Pironkov, Petar Dochev, Lika Yanko, Stanislav Pamukchiev, etc. are presented with their artworks. They are bearers of the new painting tendencies: bright colors, experimenting with the texture, abstract composition, laid down in the beginning of 1970s and developed in the 1980s.

Ivan Rusev
Unique is the personal style of Edmond Demirdzhiyan. He works in the field of drawing, collage, painting, graphics and murals. Between 1994 and 1998 he spends part time in Bulgaria and in USA. He is granted the prestigious scholarship for painting of the American foundation “Pollok-Krasner”. In 2006 is awarded with Sofia prize for special contribution in the field of arts and culture.
