Stoyan Tsanev - graphics
On 12 September 2019 at 5:30 p.m. in Halls 1 and 2 of Dobrich Art Gallery will be opened a graphic exhibition of Stoyan Tsanev. The displayed artworks are from the collections of Dobrich Art Gallery, Varna City Art Gallery “Boris Georgiev”, Silistra Art Gallery and Graphics Arts Gallery – Varna and present different periods of his artistic development.
1946 – 2019
Stoyan Tsanev was born on 28 February 1946 in Bourgas. He graduated graphic arts in Warsaw Fine Arts Academy in prof. Andrzej Rudziński’s class in 1973. In the beginning of his career the touch of different sociocultural background influences his further sense for limits and compromises. Along with the different graphic techniques even then the artist works in the field of painting and ceramics. He does not conform to the time requirements but follows the laws of his inner harmony and subtle artistry. His work is immediately noticed as it distinguishes amongst his generation with the perfect mastering of the graphic techniques.
Since 1973 he has taken part in representative exhibitions of the Union of Bulgarian artists in Russia, USA, Canada, Japan, Mexico, France, Germany, Italy, Scandinavian countries, Greece, Cuba, Malta, Czech Republic, Poland, Luxemburg, etc. His artworks are displayed in over 40 personal exhibitions in Vienna, Paris, Oslo, Toronto, New Delhi, Goteborg, Tokyo, Essen, Moscow, Sofia, Varna, Bourgas and others.
During the last years of his life he works in Bourgas village Luka, in his house-atelier and the small gallery to it. The graphics are replaced by painting and ceramicsas continuation of his artistic growth.
